Academic Dean (FHM)

About Me

I am Academic Dean at Fachhochscule des MIttelstands (FHM) – University of Applied Sciences and am responsible for the strategic development, quality assurance, and management of a multi-campus academic portfolio serving more than 6,000 students. In this role, I lead institutional transformation processes, develop performance- and impact-oriented management systems, and ensure that academic programmes are aligned with societal, regulatory, and labour market requirements.

Previously, I served as Dean and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Human Resources, Health & Social Sciences. My responsibilities included the development of academic programmes, the management of accreditation processes, the evaluation of teaching quality, and the leadership and professional development of professors and academic staff.

My academic career has taken me to the German Sport University Cologne, the University of Potsdam, and international research collaborations at The University of Texas at Austin and the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. I completed my habilitation in Training and Exercise Science at the University of Duisburg-Essen and earned my doctorate (Ph.D.) in Sport Science from the German Sport University in Cologne.

Alongside my work in higher education leadership, I remain actively engaged in research. My research focuses on prevention, health promotion, and motor development across the lifespan. An overview of my research projects, publications, and scientific collaborations can be found in the Research Section.

My professional work combines higher education leadership, academic research, and university teaching. I am particularly committed to developing future-oriented academic programmes, ensuring academic quality, and translating scientific evidence into higher education, teaching, and professional practice.
